TURLOCK, Calif. Visiting Cal State
Dominguez Hills posted a 65-58 women's basketball win over Cal
State Stanislaus in Friday night CCAA action at Warrior Arena.
The Warriors (2-10, 1-4 CCAA) battled
back-and-forth in the first half and played strong in the
beginning of the second, before the Toros (6-5, 4-1 CCAA) took
over in the final 12 minutes.
Stanislaus took the lead on the first play of
the second frame, and built it up to as much as four, 38-34, with
just over 15 minutes in the game.
The Toros then went on a 16-0 run over the next
four minutes to put Cal State Dominguez Hills up by 10 where they
held on and never let the Warriors get closer than six points.
Stanislaus was led by senior center Shavaki
Jacksons 20 points and 13 rebounds, the games high in
both categories and its lone double-double. Lindsie Lefort posted
15 points, all off three-pointers, and Latricia Nickelberry addeed
10.
The Toros were led by Temeka Blues 15
points, Octavia Askew had 14 and Blue had 11.
CSUDH had a slight advantage in shooting,
hitting 41 percent from the field to the Warriors 35 percent.
The Toros will be back in action on Saturday,
Jan. 15, as they travel on to Chico State.
