The team marched in the annual MLK Kingdom Day
Parade which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year. Over one
million people took to the streets of Los Angeles to remember the
life and works of the late, great civil rights leader.
"It was an honor to be able to
participate in this great annual tribute," says CSUDH
assistant soccer coach Jeff Tuttle. "We felt fortunate to
represent the University while honoring the memory and legacy of
such a key figure in American history."
The parade route commenced on Martin Luther
King Blvd. at Crenshaw and ended two miles later at Western Ave.
The parade featured more than 150 floats, 20 drill teams, ten
dance groups, a host of celebrities and the tunes of a military
marching band. Local vendors and restaurants spilled out onto the
street, making for a carnival-like atmosphere.
