Holiday Inn Presents Toro Athletics with Scholarship Check

CARSON, Calif.--(January 24, 2005)--Cal State Dominguez Hills Athletics hosted longtime corporate partner, the Holiday Inn of Torrance, Friday night during the men's and women's basketball games against UC San Diego as representatives from the Holiday Inn presented their annual scholarship check to Toro Athletics.

On hand to accept the check from Holiday Inn General Manager David Britton were CSUDH President Dr. James E. Lyons, Sr., Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Boice Bowman and CSUDH Athletics Director, Ron Prettyman.

The check, in the amount of $8,537, represents a full scholarship and goes directly to the CSUDH Athletics general scholarship fund benefitting CSUDH student-athletes. One hundred percent of all athletic scholarship monies have to be fundraised by the Toro athletics department.

"The Holiday Inn has been a wonderful friend and partner to Toro athletics over the years," says Prettyman. "It has been a mutually beneficial relationship that has grown stronger over time, and it is good to know that we can count on a community partner like the Holiday Inn in supporting our student-athletes."
