San Francisco, Calif.--- The San Francisco
State University Gators fell 64-57 to the visiting Toros of Cal
State Dominguez Hills (12-6, 10-2 CCAA) Saturday evening at SFSUs
Main Gymnasium. SFSU is now 4-15 overall and 3-9 in the CCAA.
The Toros led throughout the majority of the
game except at the 13:08 mark of the first half, when Bianca
Rayford scored two of her team high 17 points. Cal State Dominguez
Hills built its first lead to 8 (28-20) with 2:56 left in the half
when Octavia Askew connected on two free throws. The Toros took a
30-25 lead into the half.
Cal State Dominguez Hills built its lead back
to eight (44-36) with 8:50 left in the game when Alana Bailey
connected on both free throws. SF State cut the lead to one
(52-51) when DeAnna Butler hit a three-pointer at the 2:55 mark.
The Toros built their lead back to nine (64-55) with five seconds
left when they went on a 11-4 run in the next 1:50. Cal State
Dominguez Hills won the game 64-57.
Tameka Blue led the Toros with 17 points while
Octavia Askew added 15 points. Blue added 5 assists and Askew
recorded four steals for the Toros.
Bianca Rayford recorded her eighth double
double of the season by scoring 17 points and grabbing 13 rebounds
while Farryn Lewis chipped in 10 for the Gators.
The Toros will be back at the Carson campus
next weekend for a homestand featuring Cal State L.A. Friday (Feb.
11) and Cal State Bakersfield, Saturday.
