WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--(March 17, 2005)--Cal
State Dominguez Hills outfielder Ricky Eda (Palos Verdes/Peninsula
HS) has been named the Wilson California Collegiate Athletic
Association Baseball Player of the Week for the week of February
28 through March 6.

Eda, a senior from Palos Verdes, led the Toros
to a 2-1 series win over crosstown rival Cal State L.A. last week.
He hit .636 (7 for 11) at the plate with three home runs, three
doubles, six RBI and an amazing 1.727 slugging percentage over the
three-game stretch.
In the opening game against the Golden Eagles
last Friday, Eda went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored in
the leadoff spot while hitting his third homer of the season in a
9-4 loss.
In game one of the twinbill on Saturday, Eda
paced the 11-hit Toro attack in the 8-3 win going 3-for-4 with two
runs batted in and two runs scored. All three hits were for extra
bases, two doubles and a home run, his fourth of the season, a
2-run shot.
In game two, Eda collected two more hits going
2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. His home run, the third
is as many games and fifth of the season, was a solo shot in the
first which tied the game, 1-1.
The honor marks the first for the senior during
his two-plus seasons at CSUDH after transferring from Los Angeles
Harbor Junior College.
