WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Cal State Dominguez Hills first baseman Jackie Miller has been named the Wilson California Collegiate Athletic Association Softball Player of the Week, and Valerie Long has been named the Pitcher of the Week, both for the week of April 4-10.

Miller, a junior from Bremerton, Wash., led the Toros to a 6-0 week that vaulted CSUDH atop the CCAA standings (33-7, 18-4).

She hit .579 (11 for 19) with a double, 5 home runs, 10 runs scored, 12 runs batted and compiled a 1.421 slugging percentage and a .636 on-base average over six games.

Miller hit a home run in a school-record 4 consecutive games. She opened the week with a 4-for-7, 3 RBI effort in a 10-2, 12-1 doubleheader sweep at UC San Diego. The following day, Miller went 4 for 6 with 2 homers, 5 runs and 4 RBI in a 10-1, 18-2 sweep at Cal State San Bernardino. She finished the week by going 3 for 6 with 2 home runs, 4 runs scored and 5 RBIs as the Toros again swept UCSD, 11-3 and 9-3.

This is Miller's first-career CCAA Player of the Week honor.

Long, a senior from Stockton, went 3-0 and posted a 1.68 earned run average against CCAA rivals UC San Diego and Cal State San Bernardino last week. The Toros went 6-0 against UCSD and CSUSB (Apr. 8-10) and took sole possession of first place in the CCAA with an 18-4 league mark.

Long tossed a 2-hit complete game at UCSD to open the week, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits, a walk and struck out 8. The following day, she pitched 3 and two-thirds innings of a 10-1 romp at Cal State San Bernardino. She finished the week with a complete-game win over UC San Diego in which she scattered 2 earned runs on 5 hits and 2 walks and struck out 9.

For the week, Long allowed 4 earned runs on 9 hits and 3 walks and struck out 19 over 16.2 innings. Opposing lineups hit just .153 against Long.

This is Long's second CCAA Pitcher of the Week honor this season, and third of her career.
