Carson, CA The Cal State Dominguez Hills
softball team, at 33-7, 18-4 CCAA and riding a six-game win streak
heading into todays showdown with No. 12-ranked San
Francisco State, find themselves amongst the best in the nation in
various statistics, as released earlier by the NCAA.
Individually, junior speedster Cindy Perry
(Victorville, CA/Silverado HS) ranks 14th in stolen bases,
averaging 0.85 stolen bases per contest.
Senior pitcher Valerie Long (Stockton, CA/St.
Marys HS) also finds herself in the top 30 in two
categories, coming in at 24th in strikeouts per 7 innings with 8.5
Ks per contest, and tied for 26th in wins with 15.
Fellow pitcher Jackie Miller (Bremerton,
WA/Central Kitsap HS/CS Stanislaus) makes her appearance in the
ERA category, boasting a 1.14 ERA, good for 42nd in the nation.
As a team, the Toros place 5th in the nation in
fielding percentage at .977, while their other strong suit,
pitching, places 19th overall with a 1.37 ERA.
