Carson, CA – The Cal State Dominguez Hills softball team, having established school bests with a 42-9 overall and 22-4 CCAA record heading into this Saturday’s final CCAA matchup, finds itself amongst the best in the nation in various individual and team statistics, as released earlier today by the NCAA.

Individually, senior pitching ace Valerie Long (Stockton, CA/St. Mary’s HS) earns her place in three categories, coming in at No. 19 in strikeouts per 7 innings (8.7), tied at No. 26 in wins (19) and at No. 36 in ERA (1.17). Fellow ace Jackie Miller (Bremerton, WA/Central Kitsap HS/CS Stanislaus) makes her lone appearance at No. 20 in ERA (0.94), while junior speedster Cindy Perry (Victorville, CA/Silverado HS) rounds out the individual appearances in the NCAA poll, sliding in at No. 17 in stolen bases per game (0.76).

As a team, the Toros are at No. 7 nationally in fielding percentage (.973), No. 10 in Win/Loss Percentage (.824), and No. 16 in ERA (1.30).

CSUDH concludes its conference season with a doubleheader at Cal State Bakersfield this Saturday. The Toros then host two non-conference opponents in Biola (May 4) and Grand Canyon (May 6), before their opponent and destination are revealed as the NCAA Division II Far West Region Playoffs commence on Thursday, May 12, at a site to be determined.
