Carson, CA -- Cal State Dominguez Hills senior
Ricky Eda (Palos Verdes, CA/LA Harbor JC) was named a First-Team
All-CCAA selection, it was announced this afternoon by the
California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) office. Eda, who
led the conference in home runs and runs scored, is joined by
All-CCAA Honorable Mention selection Ian Corso (Thousand Oaks,
CA/CS Stanislaus), and CCAA Freshman of the Year, Matt Hopps
(Torrance, CA/South HS).

Senior Ricky Eda led the
league in home runs and runs scored, and for his performance
this year, he has been selected for the first team All-CCAA.

Eda had a banner senior season, tallying 19
home runs, 69 runs, 45 RBIs and a prodigious .722 slugging %. He
finished the regular season in many offensive categories in the
CCAA, topping the league in both home runs and runs scored,
placing 2nd in slugging % and triples, 7th in stolen bases, 8th in
RBI, 14th in hits, 17th in on-base % and 28th in batting average.
Eda has enjoyed 20 multiple-hit games, including six 3-hit
performances and one 4-for-4 day against Cal Poly Pomona. He was
named the CCAA Player of the Week the week of Feb. 28 - March 6,
during which he went 7-for-11 with 3 home runs, 3 doubles, 6 RBI
and a prodigious 1.727 slugging %. In his career, he has blasted
23 home runs as a Toro, driven in 55 runs and collected 78 hits.

Corso also enjoyed his final season in Cardinal
Red & Gold. The Thousand Oaks native connected for 13 home
runs and 54 RBI. He was amongst the best hitters in the league,
placing 4th in RBI, 6th in doubles, 8th in slugging %, 12th in
runs scored, 14th in on-base % and 22nd in batting average. He
blasted a pair of long balls against Hawaii Pacific on April 1 as
part of a 4-RBI game, and had a season-best 4-for-5 performance on
April 23 against UC San Diego. In his career, he has connected for
105 hits and 18 home runs, driving in 82 RBI while scoring 61
runs.
Hopps was a force all season long in his first
year as a Toro. The Torrance native finished with 61 hits, 7 home
runs, 45 RBIs and 33 runs scored. He was 2nd on the team in
doubles and 4th in both hits and RBIs. In addition, Hopps saw
action in six contests on the hill, recording four strikeouts in
8.1 innings of work.
The Toros finished the regular season at 23-32,
13-26 CCAA, improving by eight games overall and four games in
conference from last seasons marks.
