Lakewood, CA --The 2005 CSUDH Toros Scholarship
Golf Classic was held last Friday, June 3, at the beautiful
Lakewood Country Club in Lakewood, CA, nearly selling out the
major fundraiser which benefits CSUDH student-athlete
scholarships.
The Golf Classic, a four-person scramble event
which began with a 6 a.m. registration / continental breakfast and
a 7:00 a.m. shotgun start, provided a festive forum for all Toros
supporters to enjoy a classic day of golf while benefiting CSUDH
athletic scholarships for the 2005-06 season. Linksters enjoyed a
perfect morning at the country club, located just 10 minutes south
of the Carson campus, as they participated in a hole-in-one
contest and longest drive and closest-to-the-pin events, with the
grand prize being a 2005 Mustang.
After the competition, golfers enjoyed a buffet
lunch sandwiched between silent and live auctions. Items for those
events consisted of autographed basketballs by Magic Johnson and
legendary head coach John Wooden, tickets to L.A. Dodgers and L.A.
Angels of Anaheim baseball games, a Dave Matthews Band concert and
both L.A. Galaxy and Chivas USA soccer matches, a weekend getaway
in a Holiday Inn suite and various autographed items from local
product and regular visitor to the Carson campus Nomar
Garciaparra, among others.
The 2005 Toros Scholarship Golf
Classic was a huge success, said CSUDH Assistant Athletics
Director and Toros Scholarship Golf Classic Chair Lamel Harris. It
continues to get bigger and better and this year was no exception.
I would like to thank those who contributed their time and energy
to make this event so successful, and those whose contributions
directly benefited Toros student-athlete scholarships. We look
forward to seeing you all again next year.
