Carson, CA -- Cal State Dominguez Hills honored Ron Prettyman Tuesday night by “roasting” the outgoing Athletics Director at a special dinner hosted at the Holiday Inn of Torrance, giving Prettyman an evening filled with family, colleagues and CSUDH administrators, who all bestowed upon him laughs, memories, gifts and facts about Terre Haute he won’t soon forget.

CSUDH Assistant Athletics Director, emcee and event chair Patrick Guillen kicked off the event with a few Prettyman tidbits, and followed by introducing guests spanning Prettyman’s ten years on the Carson campus, a veritable who’s who amongst Cal State Dominguez Hills, intercollegiate athletics and local dignitaries. UC Riverside Athletics Director Stan Morrison, CCAA Commissioner Bob Hiegert, CSUDH President Dr. James E. Lyons, CSUDH Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Boice Bowman and former CSUDH Associate Athletics Director Randy Taylor joined Holiday Inn General Manager David Britton, CSUDH Associate Athletics Director Julie Sandoval and CSUDH head coaches Van Girard, Joe Flanagan and Dr. John Johnson taking turns saying farewell.

Gifts given Ron included Football for Dummies and a men’s soccer signed jersey from the Toros’ National Championship team of 2000. Waxing nostalgia was Commissioner Hiegert’s anecdote of Prettyman toppling a golf cart single-handedly, producing huge laughs for all.

CSUDH Certified Athletics Trainer Ethan Kreiswirth, along with brother Seth, closed the guest portion of the night with an original tune entitled Here’s to You, Mr. Prettyman, a take on Simon & Garfunkel’s classic Mrs. Robinson.

Prettyman then closed the evening himself by thanking the University and the CSUDH Athletics Department for 10 great years, after which Dr. Bowman presented him with a bronzed “Toro,” a keepsake from his CSUDH family.
