I can remember coming to Dominguez Hills in
August, 2001, not knowing anyone and not knowing what to expect
during my time here. Leaving home to go to a college that was
about 2,500 miles across the ocean seemed a little scary, but I
was excited. I did not expect my experiences to turn out this way.
The best way to describe my career is priceless.
Senior night was very significant to all of us.
With the win over Grand Canyon, we finished the season at .500,
which was a team goal since my freshman year. It also was only the
3rd time in school history that the program has had a .500 or
higher season. The intensity of the game was high, and fittingly,
it was the seniors who led the team to victory. Beating Grand
Canyon for the first time in my career was a great way to finish
off my last year.
I am really going to miss being a part of the
team. I've played organized sports since the 8th grade and it's
going to be hard to let go, but I plan to focus on finishing
school and putting in more time at my job where I work as an
assistant teacher. Of course I am going to miss practice, games,
road trips and team functions, but the little things are what I am
going to miss most ... getting lost on road trips, singing the
Star Spangled Banner with Ashley and Christine before matches,
calling my Mom after matches to let her know how we did, trying to
find the best warm-up tape, saving meal money, doing crazy cheers
and yelling obnoxiously to fire the team up, and even hearing
Dennis, our PA announcer, say "Let's play volleyball!"
before each game.
The program has treated me very well, and I
have enjoyed every moment of it. Thank you to everyone who
supported me and believed in me throughout my career. Though I am
sad it's over, I will always be a Toro. The memories I have and
the friendships I have made are priceless and will be with me
forever.
Thank you again, Love you MOM.
GO TOROS!!!!
