San Diego, CA -- Cal State Dominguez Hills
freshman Kristin Glen (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA/Trabuco Hills,
HS) again led the CSUDH cross country squad with her 18th place
finish as the Toros finished 8th out of 13 schools competing in
the open category of the 61st Aztec Cross Country Invitational,
taking place at Balboa Park in San Diego.

A true freshman, Glen crossed the 5k finish
line in a time of 20:46, just 1:42 off the time of Vanguard's
Grace Jepngetich, who took the individual title in a time of
19:04.
Junior Valarie Tucker (Downey, CA/El Camino CC)
finished in 21st place, shaving three seconds off her previous
best mark of the year by crossing the line in 20:53, while Monica
Marroquin (Los Angeles, CA/LACC), who came in four slots behind
Tucker, ran 23 seconds better than her previous season's best,
finishing the 5k race in 21:01.
Other notables include 68th place finisher
Pamela Gonzalez (Los Angeles, CA/LACC) who came in at 23:10,
79th-place finisher Breanna Foster (Cypress, CA/CS Fullerton),
whose time of 23:52 was 24 seconds faster than her season's best,
and Leslie Gonzalez (Los Angeles, CA/Roosevelt HS), who finished
82nd but showed the most significant improvement on the squad,
cutting 1:16 in this morning's 24:03 finish. Orquida Ramos
(Carson, CA/Downey HS), making her CSUDH debut, finished 88th in a
time of 24:48.
As a team, Point Loma Nazarene took the open
team title, while the Toros bested Alliant International, Caltech,
Cal Poly Pomona and Chapman University en route to their top-10
team finish.
The Toros take a week off before returning to
competition on Saturday, September 24, competing at the Cal State
Bakersfield Invite.
