CSUDH Places 10th at
CCAA Cross Country Championship |

San Francisco, CA -- True freshman Kristin Glen (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA/Trabuco Hills HS) continued the trend she started in the first cross country meet of the season as she led the Toros to an overall 10th-place finish at this morning's CCAA cross country championships, hosted by San Francisco State and run at Golden Gate Park's Lindley Meadows. Glen, who has posted CSUDH's best times since the opening meet, finished the 6K race in a time of 24:13, good for an overall 50th-place finish. Teammates Monica Marroquin (Los Angeles, CA/LACC) and Valarie Tucker (Downey, CA/El Camino College) came in about a minute behind Glen at 25:02 and 25:03, finishing in 63rd and 64th places, respectively. They were followed by Pamela Gonzalez (Los Angeles, CA/LACC) (27:18, 81st), Leslie Gonzalez (Los Angeles, CA/Roosevelt HS) (27.48, 83rd), Breanna Foster (Cypress, CA/CS Fullerton) (29:24, 88th) and Orquidea Ramos (Carson, CA/Downey HS) (29:24, 89th), who, with Glen, Marroquin and Tucker, comprised a revamped squad that saw six newcomers join just one returner from last season's squad. UC San Diego's Miriam Hodgins took the individual title and CCAA Runner of the Year award with her time of 21:31, leading the Tritons to the overall team title as five UCSD runners claimed All-CCAA honors by finishing in the top 15. Defending champion Chico State finished behind UCSD in the team standings, as three Wildcats earned All-CCAA honors.
