Turlock, CA -- Cal State Dominguez Hills placed
a total of 13 players on All-CCAA Conference soccer teams, it was
announced earlier this evening by the CCAA office. Kei Kamara
(Lawndale, CA/Leuzinger HS) and Francisco Corona
(Paramount, CA/LA Harbor JC) were repeat First-Team selections
for the men, while Rachele McDonald (Ventura, CA/Ventura
College) notched her second-consecutive First-Team accolade on
the women's side.
For the men, who finished the regular season
atop the South Division and are ranked No. 10 in the nation and
1st in the NCAA Far West Region, Kamara's and Corona's First-Team
honors lead a contingent of six Toros who were named to All-CCAA
squads. Kamara has 14 goals and five assists while Corona, who
established the CSUDH all-time record for points in a career in
the 2-0 victory over cross-town rival Cal State L.A. on October
26, has seven goals and six assists entering the CCAA Tournament.
Seniors Jaret Minami (Torrance, CA/West Torrance HS) and
Jason Koza (Whittier, CA/CS San Bernardino) and juniors
Kyle Polak (Huntington Beach, CA/CS Fullerton) and Jesse
Graham (San Diego, CA/Pt. Loma HS) all received Second-Team
honors, with Polak and Graham receiving All-CCAA honors for the
second-consecutive season.
The defending CCAA Champion Toros women's
squad, who are 3rd in the NCAA Far West Region, boasted seven
players selected to the All-CCAA teams, led by First-Team
selections McDonald, Tara Senff (Palos Verdes Estates,
CA/South HS) and Katie Roche (Costa Mesa, CA/Cypress
College). McDonald and Senff lead CSUDH with eight goals
apiece while Roche finished the regular season with six goals.
Senior Elizabeth Arreola (Redondo Beach, CA/Redondo Union HS),
now a three-time All-CCAA selection, and sophomore Corrie
Hirokawa (Torrance, CA/North Torrance HS), a two-time
all-conference honoree, each picked up Second-Team honors, while
sophomore Sandra Lloyd (Fountain Valley, CA/Fountain Valley HS),
who received her second-consecutive All-CCAA nod, and freshman
Kristen Boskovich (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA/Peninsula HS)
notched Third-Team honors on a team which boasts six players who
have at least 12 points on the season.
The Toro men finished the regular season at
15-3-2, 9-3-2 CCAA and will square off against Cal State San
Bernardino in the men's second semifinal on Friday, scheduled for
a 1:30 p.m. first kick, while the Toro women, who finished
runner-up in the CCAA's South Division with a 13-5-2, 8-4-2 CCAA
record, will face host Cal State Stanislaus in Friday's marquee
matchup, scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. first kick.
