Toros Men's Soccer Places Three on NSCAA First-Team All-Far West Region Squad
2005 NCAA Far West Region Champions return seven starters and goalkeep in 2006
November 28, 2005

Carson, CA -- Seniors Francisco Corona (Paramount, CA/LA Harbor JC) and Jaret Minami (Torrance, CA/West Torrance HS), along with sophomore Kei Kamara (Lawndale, CA/Leuzinger HS), all were named to the First-Team All-West Region squad, it was announced by the National Soccer Coaches Soccer Association of America earlier today. Corona was selected to the First-Team for the third-consecutive year, while Kamara notched First-Team honors for the second-consecutive season and Minami received his first-career First-Team All-West Region nod.

Corona, now a three-time NSCAA First-Team All-Far West selection, is the CSUDH all-time career leader in points scored, and tallied the final goal of his Toro career in the 3-2 NCAA quarterfinal loss to top-seeded and undefeated Fort Lewis College on November 19. Kamara, who led the Toros with 15 goals en route to 36 points, now has two First-Team All-West Region honors to go along with his two First-Team All-CCAA accoloades, as well as his 2004 CCAA MVP nod. Minami, the backbone of the Toros defense who played in 20 games this season, earned his first-career First-Team All-Far West honor as he concluded his fourth and final season in Cardinal & Gold.

The Toros, who posted a 17-5-2 overall and 9-3-2 CCAA record, reached the NCAA playoffs for the sixth-consecutive season and seventh time overall, winning the Far West title with a scintillating 2-1 overtime victory over then-No. 5 ranked Seattle Pacific on November 14. Head coach Joe Flanagan's squad will return seven starters along with their starting goalkeep in 2006.
