Carson, CA -- Sophomore Kei Kamara
(Lawndale, CA/Leuzinger HS) was named a men's soccer
Third-Team All-America selection, it was announced earlier by the
National Soccer Coaches Soccer Association of America (NSCAA).
This marks Kamara's first-career All-America nod as the Lawndale
native helped lead the Toros to the 2005 NCAA DII Far West
Regional title and an NCAA quarterfinal appearance.
Kamara, who led the Toros with 15 goals, six
assists, 36 points and nine game-winning goals, now has one
All-America honor, two First-Team All-West Region accolades, two
First-Team All-CCAA nods and a 2004 CCAA MVP selection under his
belt in just two seasons in Cardinal & Gold.
The Toros, who posted a 17-5-2 overall and
9-3-2 CCAA record, reached the NCAA playoffs for the
sixth-consecutive season and seventh time overall, winning the Far
West title with a scintillating 2-1 overtime victory over then-No.
5 ranked Seattle Pacific on November 14. Head coach Joe Flanagan's
squad will return Kamara and six other starters along with the
Toros' starting goalkeep in 2006. |
