Carson, CA -- Cal State Dominguez Hills
student-athletes made a visit to the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center on
December 7, distributing gifts and bringing joy to the medical
center's children during this holiday season.
The student-athletes, accompanied by CSUDH Vice
President of Student Affairs Dr. Boice Bowman, CSUDH Acting
Athletics Director Patrick Guillen and CSUDH Assistant Athletics
Director Lamel Harris, all volunteered for this visit and donated
holiday presents for the children as their way of giving back to a
community that has continued to support CSUDH over the years.
Spearheaded by Harris, this annual event saw
CSUDH present 200 toys to approximately 40 kids in the childrens
unit, with over half the donations coming from the Doubletree
Hotel Carson Civic Plaza, one of CSUDHs major corporate
partners. With toys in tow, Harris garnered participation from all
Toro sports available, which devoted both time and caring to the
children. Additionally, a good portion of the toys donated were
left in the playroom for future use.
"It was a great experience for
our student-athletes to not only give back to a community that has
supported Toros Athletics over the years, Harris begins, but
to also experience the true meaning of the holidays by helping put
smiles on the faces of these children. I couldnt be more
proud and I know both our student-athletes and the kids at the
Harbor-UCLA Medical Center will remember this for years to come.
