Hills held the Hope International womens basketball team to
33% shooting (16-of-48) en route to a 66-49 win on Wednesday
inside Darling Pavilion. CSUDH improves to 6-2 with the win.
CSUDH jumped out to a 19-6 lead after 8 minutes
and never looked back. The Royals were held to just 5 points over
the next 7 minutes, while the Toros continued to build their lead
to 22 points with 2:38 to play. Tameka Blue led CSUDHs first
half surge, pouring in 18 first-half points for the visitors.
Royals leading scorer Jasmine Nault was held to
5 points in the first half, while Carly Andrews led Hope with 6
points before the break.
In the second half, Hope was able to cut the
Toros lead to 55-40 with 6:47 to play. The Toros tightened up
their perimeter defense and forced several turnovers down the
stretch to seal the victory. Nault, the only Hope player to score
in double figures, tallied 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals.
CSUDH was led by Blues 24 points and 7 rebounds.
The Toros return to the hardwood on Friday,
Jan. 6 when the team begins a weekend homestand with first Cal
State Bakersfield, then Cal State L.A. |
