Carson, CA -- Continuing his outreach program,
newly appointed Cal State Dominguez Hills Athletics Director Patrick
Guillen was the marquee speaker at this afternoons South
Bay Athletic Club luncheon, a weekly forum comprised of
professionals and sports buffs from the south bay and surrounding
areas.
Spreading the CSUDH Athletics word, Guillen was
introduced by longtime Daily Breeze columnist Mike
Waldner, and spoke of the improvements the Toros Athletics
Department has made and is currently making under his guidance.
Subjects ranging from CSUDHs newly generated corporate
partnerships with Velocity Sports Performance, Island Wireless and
the Doubletree Hotel Carson Civic Plaza went hand-in-hand with the
success stories Guillen relayed about both mens and womens
soccer teams vying for NCAA titles annually, womens
basketball looking to make consecutive appearances in postseason
play, numerous All-Americans in track and field, and the softball
team defending its CCAA title as their season begins today.
Additionally, Guillen informed the SBAC about
Toros Athletics hosting a business luncheon for community business
leaders in April, as well as plans for CSUDHs Inaugural
Athletics Hall of Fame, tentatively scheduled for fall of 2006.
The SBAC, currently in its 41st year, holds its
luncheons at the South Bay Grill in Torrance, where moderator Fred
Petersen undertakes master of ceremony duties after lunch is
served to its members and their guests of honor.
