Cleveland, OH -- Cal State Dominguez Hills is
tied for 34th place in the U.S. Sports Academy Directors Cup
standings, a competition ranking athletic programs success
from around the nation. The U.S. Sports Academy Directors
Cup is a joint effort between the the National Association of
Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today that
awards points based on each institutions athletic finish in up to
14 sports -- seven womens and seven mens.
Based on the Toros 5th place national
finish in mens soccer (70 points), and CSUDHs 17th
place finish in womens soccer (25 points), the Toros
accumulated 95 points during the fall season, tying them with CW
Post LIU (NY), New York Tech and West Chester (Penn.) for 34th
place overall.
Two-time defending Directors Cup champion
Grand Valley State (Mich.) tallied 440 points in the fall, based
on national championships in both womens volleyball and
football, and a runner-up finish in womens cross country.
Holding onto second place is Colorado School of
Mines with 225 points, while Nebraska Omaha places 3rd after the
fall season, ahead of Adams State and Chico State, who are tied
for 4th place.
Among CCAA schools, Chico State and 24th-place
UC San Diego finished ahead of CSUDH, while Cal State L.A.
(T-44th), Cal Poly Pomona (T-54th), Cal State San Bernardino
(T-63rd), Cal State Bakersfield (T-90th) and Sonoma State (T-90th)
rounded out the other CCAA entries in the cup.
Official standings for the year will be
published upon the completion of the spring season. |
