senior guard Tameka Blue (Watsonville, CA/Santa Cruz HS)
was named a First-Team All-CCAA selection for the third time in
her career, while sophomore forward/center Alana Bailey
(Altadena, CA/John Muir HS) earned a Second-Team All-CCAA
distinction, it was announced earlier by the California Collegiate
Athletic Association (CCAA) office.
Blue finished the 2005-06 season as the
third-leading scorer in the CCAA with 17.9 points per game, while
her 5.1 assists per game placed her second in the conference. The
senior finished her Toro career becoming the all-time points
leader (1,470) in CSUDH history, and set career records for
assists (534) and free throw percentage (.802). This season, Blue
recorded twelve 20-plus point performances, including a new career
high of 29 points against Cal State Stanislaus.
Bailey was second on the team in scoring with
11.3 points per game, while leading the team in rebounds at 6.6
boards per game, and field goal percentage, converting 50.2% of
her shots from the field. The Altadena native scored a career-high
of 22 points twice this season, first against playoff bound
Humboldt State and then again against Biola University. Bailey
also led the team in double-doubles with four.
The Toros return a strong junior class for the
2006-07 season, along with five sophomores-to-be who gained
valuable experience in Cardinal & Gold. |
