Athletics Director Patrick Guillen has announced a corporate
partnership with Velocity Sports Performance, a state-of-the-art
training center in Redondo Beach which now serves as the official
sports performance training center for Toros Athletics.
We are really excited about our
new partnership with Velocity Sports Performance, and I cant
think of a more ideal and mutually beneficial relationship,
states Guillen. On top of this, we are proud to work with
first-class individuals in owner Brad Beale, Performance Director
Ken Vick and Recruiting Director Don Turner. The three are local
products that have a true passion for the South Bay community and
this goes hand-in-hand with our philosophy here at CSUDH.
Founded by world renowned coach Loren Seagrave,
who has coached Olympic athletes, NFL players and long distance
runners, Velocity Sports Performance will offer CSUDH athletes
advanced sports performance training, helping them increase speed,
power and agility, all while avoiding sports-related injuries. VSP
brings scientifically based training, taught by an experienced,
highly educated, qualified staff of coaches, to all CSUDH
student-athletes and coaches.
Ken Vick, who will serve as the Sports
Performance Director for the South Bay training center, is a
recognized expert in sports performance training and assessment
with 14 years of coaching in sports performance, weightlifting,
soccer, track, and water polo. After earning a BA from Columbia
College and completing graduate studies in Biomechanics and Motor
Control at Long Beach State, Vick has coached hundreds of elite
athletes represented in the NFL, NBA, NHL, AVP, the last 3 Summer
and Winter Olympic Teams, minor leagues and at over 50 NCAA
Division I and NAIA schools.
We are very excited to be able
to work with a quality organization such as the CSUDH athletic
department, begins Vick of the relationship formed with
CSUDH Athletics. There is a history of success with many of
the Toro teams and the training Toro athletes do at Velocity
Sports Performance will translate to even more success for CSUDH
athletics. We teach athletes the science behind speed and
athletics, allowing them to gain maximum power and decrease their
chance of injuries, and our goal is to provide a safe, positive
environment that promotes long-term psychological and physical
development, leading to increased confidence, character and
overall life success.
In addition to serving as the official sports
performance training center for Toros Athletics, VSP will salute
one male and one female Toros Athlete of the Week, beginning with
this weeks selections, softballs Cindy Perry-Brown
(Victorville, CA/Silverado HS) and baseballs Jason
Klug (Moreno Valley, CA/San Bernardino Valley College). |
