Carson, CA -- In a move geared directly towards
fund-raising, increasing visibility and enhancing the promotion of
home games and events, Cal State Dominguez Hills Athletics has
named Alonzo Green its Marketing & Promotions Coordinator, it
was announced Wednesday morning by CSUDH Athletics Director
Patrick Guillen. Green, who held the position on an interim basis
since January, begins his official assignment today.
I am pleased to have Alonzo as a
full-time member of our Toros Athletics team, begins
Guillen. Over the last seven months, Alonzo has earned this
job by bringing on board several new corporate partners,
developing new sponsors, and coordinating the Inaugural CSUDH
Athletics Business Luncheon. His enthusiasm, passion for our
students and dedication to our mission of providing the very best
for our student-athletes makes him a great fit in the department,
and we are excited to have him here knowing that the best is yet
to come!
Green, who served as a student athletic trainer
at CSUDH from 2000-05, has secured sponsorships with Colarossi
Painting, Silvios Brazilian BBQ, Busy Lady Fitness Center,
Chick-Fil-A, Subway, Nix Check Cashing, Trusperity Corporation and
Schools Federal Credit Union among others in his seven months,
substantially increasing the amount of student-athlete scholarship
dollars. Additionally, he spearheaded the annual CSUDH Athletics
Business Luncheon last April, and played an integral role in
bringing Toros Athletics to the forefront of local and surrounding
businesses.
Id like to thank Patrick
for the opportunity to be a part of such a great team, Green
begins. I look forward to continue working hard on behalf of
not only the student-athletes, but for the businesses who support
CSUDH Athletics as well.
Prior to his arrival to CSUDH, Green played
tennis at both Southern University, where he received Freshman
of the Year honors, and at Louisiana State University, after
which he enjoyed modest success as a semi-professional tennis
player. Green has also served as a teaching professional working
with such groups as the Amateur Athletic Foundation, Challengers
Boys and Girls Club, National Junior Tennis League and the Arthur
Ashe Safe Passage Tennis Program.
Receiving both his undergraduate and graduate
degrees from Cal State Dominguez Hills, the Long Beach resident
enjoys collecting turn-of-the-century memorabilia, visiting
historical architectural landmarks and attending cultural
functions.
