Carson, CA -- On the heels of starting the
season 6-0 and winning five games via shutout, the Cal State
Dominguez Hills mens soccer team finds itself amongst the
nations best in four team categories, while senior keeper
Kyle Polak (Huntington Beach, CA/CS Fullerton) enters the
top 15 in two individual categories.
The Toros, coming off two CCAA Conference wins
last weekend over Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State San Bernardino and
scheduled to play at UC San Diego this afternoon, are tied with 14
other schools with a perfect 1.000 winning percentage, including
defending National Champion Fort Lewis, which knocked CSUDH out of
last years NCAA playoffs in a national quarterfinal match-up
in Durango, Colorado.
CSUDH also sits in 3rd in shutout percentage
(83%), and is in 7th in both team goals against average (0.33) and
save percentage (91%).
Individually, Polak, whose sixth win of the
season against the Coyotes last Sunday established the Huntington
Beach native as CSUDHs all-time career wins leader with 37
victories as a Toro, ranks 6th in goals against average (0.36) and
11th in save percentage (90%).
CSUDH plays at UC San Diego at 4:30 p.m. this
afternoon for the first of five-consecutive contests away from
Toro Stadium, before returning home on Friday, September 29, to
host Humboldt State for a 7:00 p.m. first kick.
