CHICO, Calif. Things changed quickly in
the CCAA men's basketball game Friday night as Chico State fell
66-56 to visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills. After a first half in
which they outscored Dominguez Hills 43-34 with an array of dunks
and nine second-chance points, the Wildcats scored just four
points in the first 14:24 of the second half and got outscored
32-13 after intermission.
The Toros improved to 8-9 overall and 5-7 in
the CCAA with the win. Chico State fell to 6-12 overall and 4-9 in
the CCAA with their fourth straight loss.
Dominguez Hills began the second half with a
20-4 run to take a 56-47 lead and led by seven or more for the
rest of the game.
Mike Steed led the way with 17 points and Jamel
Ward came off the bench to add 11.
True freshman Frank Igbekoyi provided the
silver lining for Chico State with a career-high 20 points on
9-of-12 shooting. He also matched a career high with seven
rebounds. Andy Bocian finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Toros play at Cal State Stanislaus Saturday
night. |
