Bakersfield, CA Junior Zach Jones (Los
Alamitos, CA/University of Hawai'i Hilo) fired a 1-over 145 over
the first 36 holes to finish in a 10-way tie for 28th place after
day one of the Cal State Bakersfield Poor Boy Invitational, played
at the Seven Oaks Country Club in Bakersfield, California.
UCLA sophomore Lucas Lee broke the tournament
first-round record with a 65, settling for a second-round 67 to
lead the Bruins to a commanding 18-stroke lead over CS Bakersfield
after the first 36 holes, while Cal State Stanislaus' Eric
Justensen came in two strokes behind Lee after day one.
CSUDH is 15th of 16 teams participating,
enjoying an 11-stroke lead over Montana State-Billings, and
traling 14th-place St. Martin's by just 3 strokes.
