Shamont Brown (Jamaica, NY/Riverside CC) was named a
Second-Team All-CCAA selection for the second-consecutive year, it
was announced this morning by the California Collegiate Athletic
Association (CCAA).
Brown finished the 2006-07 campaign averaging
11.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.9 steals per contest,
leading a Toros squad that finished the season 12-15 and 9-13
CCAA, bettering both records by one game after finishing the
2005-06 campaign at 11-16, 8-12 CCAA. Amongst the CCAA leaders
throughout the year, Brown finished the regular season 9th in FG%
(52.9%), 11th in rebounds and 23rd in scoring.
The New York native started 25 of 27 games
played, and averaged 27.2 minutes a game, second most on the
squad. Brown also led CSUDH in rebounds 10 times, in assists and
steals on six occasions and in scoring five times. He also scored
in double figures in 18 of his 27 games played.
In CSUDHs final six games, Brown averaged
13.5 points a contest, connecting for a sizzling 57.4% from the
field (31-54). Additionally, he pulled down 6.8 boards a game and
swiped 7 steals during his last hurrah.
The Toros return eight letter-winners next
season in hopes of earning their first CCAA Conference title since
the 1986-87 campaign.
