Carson, CA -- After shooting a four-over 76 to
begin the CSUB/Elco, Inc. Intercollegiate this morning, junior
Zach Jones (Los Alamitos, CA/University of Hawai'i-Hilo)
fired an even 72 during the afternoon session to finish in a
three-way tie for 22nd place after day one of competition.
As a team, CSUDH stands in 10th place of 12
teams competing, a collective 18 strokes behind UC San Diego,
which sits in 9th. Overall, Cal State San Bernardino shot a -6 to
take a three-stroke lead over UCLA, and a five-stroke edge over
host Cal State Bakersfield and Point Loma Nazarene, both tied for
3rd at -1 after two rounds.
Individually, PLNU's Sam Cyr shot a sizzling 68
and 67 over the first two rounds to give him a -9 on the
afternoon, five strokes ahead of CSUSB's Micah Burke and UCLA's
Charlie Harris and Jason Kang, who all occupy 2nd place at
four-under par.
