Game 1
Game 2
Turlock, CA -- Cal State Dominguez Hills
committed more errors than they managed hits at 7th-ranked Cal
State Stanislaus this afternoon, dropping predictable 7-4 and 9-1
decisions to the NCAA Far West's top-seeded Warriors. With the
losses, the Toros have dropped four-straight and fall to 21-25,
9-17 CCAA. Additionally, CSUDH mathematically is eliminated from
this year's inaugural CCAA Softball Tournament.
The Toros took a 3-1 lead in the opener after
Jodi Nakawatase (Long Beach, CA/Millikan HS) blasted her
5th home run of the year, a 3-run shot. That lead, unfortunately,
would last all of two innings as the Warriors responded with three
runs in the 5th and two in the 6th in the 7-4 win. Although CSUS
made four errors in the contest, CSUDH exceeded that effort by
two, managing just three hits in the loss as the Warriors earned
just three of their runs.
In the nightcap, Katie Jordan (Huntington
Beach, CA/Marina HS) jump-started CSUDH's offense with a
leadoff single and two stolen bases, eventually coming home on a
Toro strikeout that was recorded after the Warrior catcher threw
to first base for the out. The Warriors, however, answered with a
run in their 1st-inning at bat, two in the 3rd and six in the 5th
to take the 9-1 inning-shortened contest in which four Toros each
made an error in the loss, countering the four singles CSUDH
earned in the contest.
The Toros and Warriors continue their four-game
set tomorrow morning, with first pitch of game one's double-header
scheduled for 11 am in Turlock.
