Carson, CA -- True freshman Katie Jordan
(Huntington Beach, CA/Marina HS) was named a 1st-team All-CCAA
selection, it was announced this afternoon by the California
Collegiate Athletic Association Conference office, highlighting a
total of five Toros selected to All-CCAA teams.
Junior Bri Mahr (Fullerton, CA/Cypress

Frazier (Buena Park, CA/John F. Kennedy HS), Katie Garcia
(Riverside, CA/La Sierra HS) and Erika Gonzalez (Los
Angeles, CA/Bishop Amat HS ) all earned honorable mention

Jordan emerged as the teams leading
hitter, entrenching herself in the starting line-up and finishing
the year with the 3rd-best batting average in the CCAA at .392. In
addition to leading the Toros in average, hits and runs scored,
Jordan enjoyed 12 multiple-hit games, including 7 with three hits,
and three multiple-RBI contests. The Huntington Beach native also
boasted a team-high 11-game hit streak, and reached a batting
average high of .412 as late as April 12.
Mahr finished her first campaign as a Toro with
a 3-game hit streak, and eight hits in her last 20 at-bats. The
Fullerton native tallied 10 multiple-hit games and nine multi-RBI
contests, the latter good for the team lead. Mahr also blasted
three home runs and a team-best 26 RBI, making just one error in
the field, good for a stellar .971 fielding percentage.
Frazier solidified herself as the starting
shortstop during pre-season, and the Buena Park native did not
disappoint. She started in all 43 games played, and garnered a
.308 batting average, 40 hits, 21 RBI, 18 runs scored and 2 home
runs while boasting a solid .919 fielding percentage in her first
year of collegiate competition. Gonzalez came on strong at the
seasons end, increasing her batting average 16 points in a
span of three weeks. The Los Angeles native ended the year with a
.313 BA, swiping the most bases on the squad (13) with just three
errors in 38 chances in the outfield while Garcia, who blasted her
first collegiate home run against Sonoma State on April 6, enjoyed
four multiple-hit contests and became known for her solid defense
and stellar arm, notching 5 assists and featuring a .954 fielding
percentage.
In the CCAA, Humboldt State's Lizzy Prescott
and Natalie Galletly claimed respective pitcher and player of the
year, while UC San Diego's Nicole Saari was voted the league's top
freshman and Sonoma State's Megan Ochylski the top newcomer.
With the exception of its lone graduating
senior, next years Toro squad returns its entire roster, and
will look to make its way back to the top of the CCAA and into
post-season play.
