Warren Edmonson, Head Coach

Warren Edmonson begins his 4th season as head coach of the women's cross country/track and field program after serving as an assistant coach for the Toros from 2000-01.

Edmonson comes to the Carson campus with a wealth of collegiate and international track and field experience. An Oakland native, Edmonson was a standout at UCLA, where he excelled at the 100-meter dash, capturing the then Pac 8 Championship and the NCAA Championship in that event. In 2001, Edmonson was inducted into the UCLA Hall of Fame for his successes on the track during his three seasons as a Bruin.

After his collegiate career, Edmonson brought his talents to the indoor world circuit. In 1973, Edmonson set the world record in the 100 meters, followed by co-holding the world record in the 70 meters in 1974.

Since his competitive days, Edmonson has turned his attention to coaching. He served as the head coach of the track and field program at St. Bernard's HS for seven seasons, as well as head coach of the Southern California Sports Club for seven years. In his tenure at the Southern California Sports Club, Edmonson guided his athletes to seven national relay records and five appearances at the junior championships. He was named Club Coach of the year for his achievements during those seasons.

During his four years as head coach, the cross-country / track and field programs have fielded 12 combined All-America honors, including one by the 2002 4x400 relay team.
