Understanding of the significance of masks as a cultural expression in African, European, American and Asian/Pacific societies.
Appreciation for the social function of world masks in rituals, myth, ceremonies, carnival, and drama.
Awareness of the interplay of literature, art, philosophy and the performing arts in masking societies.

Critical Thinking - ability to use objective insights to prove a claim.
Analysis - ability to analyze masks for their physical uniqueness and aesthetic values.
Categorizing - ability to sort important information according to a given set of defined concepts
Research - ability to explore a mask to determine its function and meaning for the culture that produced it.
Organization - ability to plan expressions effectively by gathering information into structured formats like outlines and concept maps
Comparison - ability to show how masks are similar either in physical appearance, function based on research, or personal reflection.
