The Center for History-Social Science Education is committed to improving the teaching and learning of history-social science by:

• Building the content knowledge of teachers, while building their capacity to deliver the content in ways that meet the needs of all students, particularly English Language Learners.
• Strengthening students’ knowledge and understanding of history-social science, as outlined in the California State History-Social Science Content Standards.
• Developing teacher leadership in a “teachers teaching teachers model.”
• Developing school and district partnerships
• Supporting the training of teachers and future teachers in History-Social Science through partnership work with the Teacher Education Department at CSU, Dominguez Hills
