About CMS
With the completion of implementation of the CMS Project at CSUDH, the CMS (PeopleSoft) applications are now managed by Administrative Information Systems, a unit of Information Technology.
Common Management Systems (CMS) was a project of the California State University (CSU) System that was developed in the 1990s to provide efficient, effective and high quality service to students, faculty and staff at all 23 campuses in the system plus the Chancellor's Office. By 2008, the CMS Project enabled the CSU:
- To share administrative best practices;
- To support administrative functions (initially including human resources, financials, and student services) with a shared, common suite of applications from a single software provider [Oracle/PeopleSoft];
- To operate the administrative software suite at a single location (currently, the Unisys data center in Salt Lake City);
- To share a supported, central data warehouse.
At CSUDH, the CMS Project was part of the Division of Administration & Finance, overseen by Mary Ann Rodriguez, Vice President, Administration & Finance.
As a first step, CSUDH had to undergo a readiness assessment. That step was completed in August 2005 and is marked by a letter from CSU Executive Vice Chancellor/CFO Richard P. West to CSUDH President James E. Lyons, Sr. ( 5 MB). CSUDH launched Financials and Human Resources CMS modules in the summer of 2006.
