"The
program's goal to move from teacher to
leader are exactly what I have been
feeling. It's hard to put into words how
the past three months of the program have
given me so much knowledge that has lead to
a different type of thinking. Our
instructor promised on the first day of
class that our thinking would be changed and
it certainly has." S.T. Cohort

Developing School Leaders
Developing competent leaders in
schools is the crucial component to
continued student success. The
completion of coursework, or the
passing of a test, is insufficient
to truly develop a candidate who is
ready to focus the efforts of a
school on the continued
implementation of a vision and
school culture capable of improving
student achievement.
The CSUDH-COE offers four EAD
programs:
"What a truly marvelous experience
last evening's Field-based Project
Presentation! I have loved this
program, would certainly recommend
it and am going to miss not being in
school next fall. I have grown
personally and professionally. I
don't look at any educational
situation like I used to." C. B.

There are four major components to all EAD
programs:
1. Traditional classes
based on the California Professional
Standards for Educational Leaders.
These classes will be in cohort
groups one evening a week from 4:15
p.m. to 9:45 p.m. and some Saturdays
will be included.
2. Online-Learning that reinforces
and enhances the face-to-face
seminars and extends professional
preparation through case study
analysis and extensive professional
reading.
3. Field-base projects focused on
actual on-the-job managerial tasks
which lead to the total
administrative experience preparing
our candidates for the rigors school
leadership.
4. Mentoring, coaching, and
advising provided by district field
mentor and university cohort
coordinator.
