Pre-Teaching Program – Multiple Subject Credential 

The Pre-Teaching Program is designed to provide support for students who plan to enter the Multiple Subject Credential Program, but have not yet passed CSET.  This is a one-semester program that includes both subject matter preparation and credential coursework. 

Application deadlines:   

Summer – April 1

Fall – June 1

Spring – December 1 

Admission Requirements: 

• Application to the university, with official transcripts and $55.00 fee
• Application to the Multiple Subject Pre-Teaching Program*, including
  • Passing CBEST scores
  • Transcripts (may be unofficial), with GPA of 2.67 overall, or 2.75 in last 60 units
  • Certificate of Clearance, emergency or substitute permit, or pre-intern certificate
  • TB test results, emergency or substitute permit, or pre-intern certificate
  • CSET scores**
  • Evidence of having met Constitution requirement
  • $50.00 fee

Program: 

• Enrollment in one, two, or three of the following courses, depending on CSET scores (These courses are also available in the Extended Education starting Fall 2006):

TED 495.11      English Language Arts/Social Studies Module

TED 495.12      Mathematics and Science Module

TED 495.13      Visual and Performing Arts/Children Development/Physical Education Module

• Enrollment in the following credential courses

TED 400***     Seminar:  Introduction to Education

TED 411           Classroom Management

TED 402           Educational Psychology

TED 415           Multicultural Education

KIN 425****    Physical Education in Elementary Schools

TED 408****    Visual and Performing Arts Methods

TED 420****    Computer Literacy for Teachers

TED 476           Assessment Seminar 

After successfully completing the Pre-Teaching Program, AND passing the CSET, you will automatically be accepted into the Multiple Subject Credential Program.

**   If your scores are not available before the application deadline, please submit a copy of your test   registration form.

*** CSUDH Liberal Studies students who have taken LBS 400 during Fall 2003 or later are excused from this course.

****CSUDH Liberal Studies students are excused from these courses.
