Pre-Teaching Program – Special Education
The
Pre-Teaching Program is designed to provide support for
students who plan to enter the Special Education
Credential Program, but have not yet passed the CSET.
This is a one-semester program that includes both
subject matter preparation and credential coursework.
Application deadlines:
Summer
– April 1
Fall –
June 1
Spring
– December 1
Admission requirements:

Application to the university, with official
transcripts and $55.00 fee

Application to the Special Education Pre-Teaching
Program*, including
-
Passing CBEST scores
-
Transcripts (may be
unofficial) documenting a minimum GPA of 2.75 or
GRE score of 800 on two of the three subtests
-
Certificate of
Clearance, emergency or substitute permit, or
pre-intern certificate
-
TB test results,
emergency or substitute permit, or pre-intern
certificate
-
CSET scores**
-
Three letters of
reference
-
Evidence of having
met the Constitution requirement
-
$50.00 fee
Program:

Enrollment in one, two, or three of the following
courses, depending on CSET scores:
TED 495.11 English
Language Arts/Social Studies Module
TED 495.12 Mathematics
and Science Module
TED 495.13 Visual and
Performing Arts/Children Development/Physical Education

Enrollment in the following credential courses
SPE 460
Introduction to Special Education
SPE 558 Managing
Learning Environments in General & Special Education
After successfully
completing the Special Education Pre-Teaching Program
(with no grade lower than a B-) AND passing the CSET,
you will automatically be accepted into the Special
Education Credential Program.
