Special Education University Intern Entrance Requirements
Application Process

Submit University
Graduate/Post baccalaureate application to the
Admissions & Records Office.

Submit a Preliminary
Application to the Special Education Program with the
following information:
q
Preliminary Application
form.
q
Check or money order for $55.00 payable
to CSUDH.
q
Three letters of
recommendation on official letterhead.
q
All copies of college
transcripts with degree posted.
q
Copy of passing California
Basic Education Skills Test (CBEST) card and scores.
q
Verification of subject
matter competence—submit copy of scores or current
credential. Note: Effective fall, 2004 candidates
must submit verification of passed CSET in one of the
following areas: Multiple Subjects, English, Mathematics,
Science, Social or a current California credential in one
of these subject areas.
q
Minimum 2.75 grade point
average (GPA) in the last sixty (60) units attempted. If
applicant has a GPA below 2.75, an 800 Graduate Record
Exam (GRE) combined score on two of the subtests) or a 600
Verbal score is required for the application to be
considered by an Exceptions Committee.
q
Verification of the passing
of the U.S. Constitution requirement by course or test.
The grade on a transcript must be “C” or better.
3.
In
addition to the above program requirements, interns must
meet the following additional requirements:
q
Completion of
an application to the California Commission on Teacher
Credentialing (CCTC) for the (Two-Year) University
Internship Special Education Credential. A $55.00 money
order is required with the application.
q
A position as a
special education teacher in a public school district with
whom CSUDH has a Memorandum of Understanding. |
