BCLAD Information, Spring Semester 2009
Requirements for the BCLAD Emphasis Credential at CSU, Dominguez Hills
REGISTER for all 3 exams in the TED office.
:: New Exam Dates {Oral/Written}
1. Oral Exam:
- The exam is given in Spanish by the Modern Languages Department.
- The results take up to two weeks to arrive in my office. I will notify you of the results.
- You must pass this exam before entering Phase 1 of the TED program as a BCLAD candidate.
* You may waive this exam if you have a Level A Proficiency letter from LAUSD.
2. Culture Exam: (click here to for schedule)
- This exam is offered once a month.
- The cost is $20.00 check or money order payable to CSUDH at the time of the exam.
- Use the book Crossings, by Dr. Max Contreras, to study for the exam, as part of the exam is based on this book. The book can be purchased in the CSUDH bookstore for about $20.00
- You are required to pass this exam before entering Phase 2 of the TED program as a BCLAD candidate.
* Courses that waive the culture exam are Spanish 350, 351 or Multicultural Ed 420.
3. Written Exam: (click here to for schedule)
- The exam is given in Spanish by the BCLAD Coordinator.
- You may use a Spanish dictionary at the time of the exam.
- The cost is $20.00 payable to CSUDH at the time of the exam.
- The results take up to two weeks to arrive in my office. I will notify you of the results.
-You are required to pass this exam before entering Phase 2 of the TED program as a BCLAD candidate.
4. Course work: (Multiple Subject candidates only)
- BCLAD sections of TED 403 and TED 404
- Placement in a bilingual classroom for TED 433 Teaching Practices Seminar
- Placement in a bilingual classroom for TED 435/TED437 student teaching
Letter of Completion:
- Once you have passed the Culture, Written, and Oral Exams you will be notified by email that your - letter is ready to be picked up.
Please read this email message carefully as it will explain that your Letter of Completion has been forwarded to your student file and your copy of the letter is available for pick- up in the Student Services Center, SCC Building 5 or in the Teacher Education Department office.
5. Special Education Candidates:
- To obtain BCLAD certification, you must take the State exams found at www.ctel.nesinc.com
