NCATE is a performance-based accreditation system that is designed to assess the professional education unit that is responsible for the preparation of teachers and other educational professionals. The six NCATE standards are researched based and evaluates the capacity to effectively deliver programs and to assess candidates’ and graduates’ ability to “apply knowledge, practices, and technologies.” NCATE reviews the following SOE divisions and department:

Arrow Liberal Studies Department

Arrow Teacher Education Division

Arrow Graduate Education Division

The CCTC standards fall under the six domains of the California Standards of the Teaching Profession (CSTP). The CCTC standards cover pedagogy, teaching expertise, and professional conduct and ethics.  Credential candidates who complete their program at a “Meets Standards” level are recommended for a teaching or professional credential. The Committee on Accreditation (COA) is a sub-set of the CCTC and as such it reviews the following credential programs:

Arrow Multiple Subject

Arrow Single Subject

Arrow Special Education
