School of Nursing Stock Our Skills Lab Campaign Launches!

We are building a state-of-the-art Clinical Skills Lab for the School of Nursing on the campus of CSU Dominguez Hills. We need your help!

The current nursing lab is too small and out-dated to meet the growing needs of our students and faculty.

Since 1981the School has offered innovative distance learning education programs for registered nurses (RNs) to obtain their BSN and MSN degrees. In response to the critical shortage of nurses, we recently added an accelerated, full-time pre-licensure program for master’s students seeking to become RNs. These new students, the RN to BSN students and the Graduate students must have the opportunity to practice beginning and advanced skills in a realistic clinical setting.

The new Clinical Skills Lab will feature a simulation unit with two METI human simulators. There will be four beds with addition mannequins, a completely-equipped critical care bed unit, and four examining table units for practicing physical assessment and various treatment procedures. There is also a 30-seat computer lab/classroom.

We have the renovated space, we have the beds thanks to our partner Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance, we have the METI “men”….But the rest is just a dream at this point.

To fully equip our Clinical Skills Lab we have launched a STOCK OUR SKILLS LAB CAMPAIGN. We call it the SOS Lab Campaign because we really need your help to make this dream become a reality!

The Lab is scheduled to open by summer 2009 and we have a goal to raise a total of $250,000 to stock the Nursing Skills Lab. We need donations of hospital machines, supplies, and gifts of money to purchase additional equipment and furnishings.

Please consider making a generous contribution to the School of Nursing’s SOS Lab Campaign. Any gift matters and will help to make a dramatic difference in the education of our nursing students. Click here to make your contribution online.               .
