DEAR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT:

On behalf of the students, faculty, staff, administration and the surrounding community of California State University, Dominguez Hills, we welcome you to share your educational endeavors in Los Angeles. We are composed of people from all over the world. The United States is a nation of immigrants, and this university continues that tradition by bringing students to campus who are citizens of other countries- you are important to the life of the university. While here at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), you will have an opportunity share your knowledge and your culture with us.

Born into a tri-cultural quad-lingual family, Mr. Joseffini has a great understanding of what it means to be an international student.  Many of his family members live 8000 miles away from campus in Friuli, Italy (Northeast corner of the country).  His mother and father for many years were successful owner/managers of several restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley.  Needless to say he grew up working in the restaurant people business.  Dan eventually earned his Master of Science degree in University Administration with a California Supervisor Credential from CSU Fullerton.  He previously graduated with a Associate Arts degree in Business Administration from Pasadena CC and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with a secondary teaching credential from Biola University.  Between his educational degrees he served his country in Southeast Asia in the US Army - 4th Division in the Central Highlands of Cambodia, Laos & Vietnam.  Dan's life time hobbies are hiking, traveling around the world and ballroom dancing.  His 32 years as a university student services professional include working in outreach, admissions, records and advising programs (with 27 years at CSUDH).  Dan is also an active member of NAFSA: Association of International Educators.

THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SERVICES OFFICE (ISSO)

The International Student Services Office (ISSO) is prepared to answer your questions. We provide referrals for academic and personal advising, and help with United States government forms and regulations. Primarily, we are here for you, even if that is just to provide a place to stop-by and chat.

Your first year in a new country and university probably will be the most difficult. The International Student Services staff can not solve your problems, but we can assist you in solving them yourself. The staff strives to give information and understanding so that you can better handle your responsibilities and reduce your possible worries. Any matter that you discuss with us will remain absolutely confidential.

The ISSO maintains certain records on international students such as: copies of immigration paperwork; passport information; your current address and health insurance coverage; record of practical training permission and on-campus employment. These records are for your protection in validating your lawful status in the United States. Helping you maintain your US Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) F-1 International Student Visa status is one of our highest priorities.

Sincerely,

Dan A. Joseffini, Coordinator, International Student Services, USCIS Designated School Official
