Music Project with Melody?"Hi Jeanne - There is alot that I have taken from this class, which will be very difficult for me to sum up in such a short memo. But I did want to address a question that I felt needed clarity. When I hear you talk of dominant discourse, the first thing that comes to mind is exploitation. Exploitation, to me is knowing that this situation is happening, but you sit there and continue to let it occur. Knowing what WE ALL know and allowing the destruction, the hurt, and the pain to continue without change is a true dissappointment. A little girl asked me the other day what will happen to us, now that Bush is still president? I had a very hard time explaiining that it is up to ALL of us to make changes in order for this world to be on an eye to eye level. A lot of our knowledge starts from the home and if we are not sitting our children down and explining the needs and wants of society, expoitation will never end. I love how you expressed that there is no separation. There is no "us"and "them, and until you said that I realized that I was apart of the problem. We, as human beings need to understand that in order for our socialized attitude to become exposed to illucutionary discourse, primary goals need to be in motion, creating change throughout the world, but also continuing to spread knowledge of respect, discipline, and equality. . . . Thank You, Kasie Boone. habermas.org" Very insightful comment, Kasie. Its a damnded good explanation of dominant discourse. Lots of threads for discssion there. And thanks for getting back to me so soon. jeanne |

"Overall your classes were a great experience we have learned that our voices need to be heard in order for us to transform our society. We need to address our concerns and make people aware of issues. We must speak out and demand answers to problems that are disregarded. "Actions speak louder than words". Transform_dom was a great experience" Message No. 2045 Your extensive report in the substantive courses shows the effort you took to experimentally confirm for yourselves that dominant discourse can be changed if we take enough action to make others aware. Well done. |

Respect Table and Exhibit."Hey Jeanne, everyone is relating their project to what they have learned in the class. I relate life to the experience and knowledge of your lectures and website (DEAR HABERMAS). I did two projects; one on the elements of respect and the other on telling authority (the police) what they want to hear. I also made the flyers and posted them, as a way of letting our voice be heard. I just wanted to let you know personally that you have broadened my outlook on life. I now go through day by day recoginizing the acts of dominant discourse which is what we hear throughout society; what has been socially constructed. My actions now seek to look beyond our social construction as a way of learning and understanding the other in regards of being more effectively related (illocutionary discourse). Throughout the semester as a group we have acted on encouraging and motivating others that despite their circumstances they do matter in governance discourse (considering all valid claims and making decisions that effect us all). We have acted on voting in the 2004 election, informed our campus on various perspectives of respect, and also collaborated on changing our societal structures by putting on our exhibit. I give 2 thumbs up to both you and Pat. THANKS!!! Dashaun Charles. Message No. 2198. Dashaun, your fist project for the Respect Table was beautifully done. It made the whole effort of the table a success, and we got lots of signatures, which I hope to put into a report as soon as all the learning records are up.Your continued efforts right through the exhibit helped make it work. Thank you. jeanne< "Community day is put on to help the less fortunate inner city
people. There are alot of donations and stuff given to the inner
city people. We give clothes, cars, food, and things of that
nature. None of you will actually be able to participate in helping
because we plan throughout the year. I was just inviting everyone
to come out and join us and see our actions on changing dominant
discourse. It's wonderful just to see the people come. Some come
hungry and leave with food, some come walking and leave driving, and
others come needing clothes and leave happy. This event is very big
throughout the community of Los Angeles. Last year alone we served
32,000 people. There will be giveaways from elcectronics to
clothing; it's big." Dashaun Charles. Message No. 2243. Dashaun I love the way you put that, "join us and see our actions on changing dominant discourse." Inspiring. jeanne |

Jeanne, in this class I have learned so much that is very difficult
to just cut it down to a paragraph. For example I have learned that
when you have people come together and form a discourse you can
achieve many things as opposed to letting things just happened and
being silenced.
One of my very first Governance discourse that I conducted was at
the school where I work as a T. A. There was a man from the union
who was trying to organize us so that we could petition to form part
of a union and receive benefits from the district. Well everything
sounded rather good but as I came to find out, the small district in
which I work, Lennox, is currently still facing trmendous budget
cuts. Which meant that if the union petition did go through 99
employees would have to be let go, because there just isn't enough
money to pay our salaries and benefits. There was a list made
available that showed how many people would have to be let go, but
the union representative was denying such a list. So I put what i
have been learning in class to work and did some research. I met
with the principal at the school and I talked to a friend of mine,
who happens to work closely with union related issues at her school.
Unfortunately what I found out was that more than half of the staff
hired by the district was going to be left without a job. I finally
met with all of the aides that I work with and told them what was
going to happen to all of our jobs. We were all shocked and i have
to say that we came together as a team to look at the pros and cons
of joyning the union. We had a discussion and came to an agreement
that most of us felt comfortable with. Not everyone agreed, but
ofcourse I wasn't expecting everyone to agree. The representative
has still made an effort to try and convince us to sign his petition
but I feel that I have made a difference because I was able to
provide my co-workers with enough information to make an informed
decision that will affect all of us and the quality of teaching that
goes on at our school.
Before being a part of your class I would have never taken the
initative or the time to try and make a difference. I wouldn't have
the tools on how to approach the situation or what to do with it.
Now for some reason, everyone expects me to speak out for them
because they feel the way I used to Silenced. Well I'll tell you
what, we are SILENCED no more." Fanika Cortez. Message No. 980. Fanika, this is a wonderful story of your activity in the field. This is one of the disadvantages of magic numbers, new technology, and the 300 students that resulted: sometimes I missed a message. I would like to include this in the Online Exhibit, though I realize you didn't mean it as an exhibit. Perhaps together we could set it up. Please email - after the holidays is OK. Good work. jeanne

Habermas.org Lori, thank you for letting me know about the elder abuse study. We moved so quickly at the exhibit that it never occurred to any of us that I didn't have a full list of the participants. I'll fix that (tomorrow) on 395 a nd 367. But Carolyn Gray and Anita Reese do have access to the internet during regular semesters, at least in the lab, and certainly through me and Pat in our offices. They need to see that they provide an evidence of learning. I'm sure you all understand that evidence of learning is essential to my being able to give grades, as is the internet. "Jeanne, I'm unclear about what it says by name as far as the learning record for soc 370. it says A while Waiting for parking evidence? If this is what I learned during the parking project, I learned that through dominant discourse we got the topic of Parking and its problems, out to the student population. We helped raise the question of where is all the money that is being recieved (through the raising of parking passes) because it is'nt going towards making more safe and adequate parking. We even brought up a few solutions of what could be done(multi-level parking structure). We have several names on a petition that was given to you, that we need to take it a step further and get it to the "right" people. . . . Thanks again to you and Pat. Solid evidence of sharing field work; "We also have to remember that democrats pretty much had a block vote
with the working class but they seem to have lost it. I really think
the party is having some identity issue that the administration took
advantage of. The democrats left workers out there alone... and the
moral right was there for them." Good issue, Armando. I wonder if we could find a union organizer to talk to us about this experience. |
| Garcia, Veronica |
"I often share what I’ve learned in class (your lectures, dear habermas and transform) with my friends and fellow coworkers. They are impressed with the issues that are brought up and by your method of teaching. Your teaching style is so refreshing. I have never had a professor who treated her students as an equal and inspired us to think "outside the box." From the first day of class, I knew the class would be interesting and non-traditional. Unlike some of my other classmates, I was not concerned or skeptic about what I would learn in your class. . . . I learned the importance of having and respecting the naked space. The energy in the room is much different than having the chairs in a row. The simple fact of being able to face each other and listen to one another is awesome. I learned not only to listen in good faith, but to do my best to understand what others have to say even though I may not agree with them." Veronica Garcia. habermas.org Veronica, this sharing is the essence of changing the dominant discourse. |

sharing of info on props, thank you; "I have seen students encounter at the community college levels is the
cost of books. Most of the students qualify for fee waivers as well
as financial aid which covers the fees. Books and transportation
seems to be the problem for many of them. The fee increase I beleive
affects the persons that are just above the poverty level and may
have to subsidize their cost because they are unable to qualify for a
complete fee waiver. Education is an investment. I remember Jeane
in class one evening going over the things we were missing here at
CSUDH. Many of the schools that she was addressing have fees that are
far more than ours.everything has a cost. Our school participated the rally against fee
increases, but they were increased. Maybe now we can look for ways
to avoid paying back some of the loans have any suggestions!!!!! Message # 776." Vanessa is bringing up an important related issue: the cost of books. I'd also like to point out that the fee increase applied to all Cal State colleges, and ours is one of the least well-funded, and one with many needs. You'd need to check the budget to see how schools compare in their learning amenities. Or maybe Jose could help us through information he gets through the Student Association. "I believe that everyone should have an opinion. However if anyone
decides to become personal they probably should exchange email
addresses and take it to another level. We may not all want to
engage. So lets just be sensitive of each others feelings but try to
remember that there is a freedom of speech issue here. If someone
offends you please let that person know we are all adults. If that
person continues than I believe it is harrasment. If that person
does not respond with leave me alone or I would not like you to
address me that way than the person may be enjoying it as well. This
is one of the reasons I never like chat room....Lets enjoy!!" Message 773. Vanessa, I think it even goes a little further. Like we have the right
to define the goals of our forum and ask those who don't share those
goals not to play. jeanne Message 804 |

"In response to the issue of double parking, it doesn't matter if it's UPS, FEDX, a mother or even a grandmother, it's ILLEGAL. The accidents that have occurred and that have been blamed on double parking, are just that, accidents. For an example, the mother who was unstrapping her child from the carseat in front of the daycare when another driver hit her from the back, that was an accident. That driver was not paying attention to what he or she was doing. An auto accident or a child being hit by a moving car, can happen without someone being double parked. There must be a reason as to why double parking is illegal!!!!!" Message # 753Yes, Yolanda, double parking is illegal. In what way does that help us solve the problem, which we as drivers must solve, of the complex issues that must be solved in the inadequacy of our streets for present traffic conditions? Simply saying that double parking is illegal does not address the underlying issue. In illocutionary understanding we are trying to understand why people behave as they do, and how we might alter those behaviors to make them safer for all of us in navigating inadequacies we can't immediately repair. Or at lest make people aware of the effects of their choices in such situations. That's what this course is about. I'd like you to show how the issue fits into our class issues, and how we might transform our dominant discourse to improve the conditions that lead to double parking. I think you may be inappropriately defining dominant discourse. Recheck it, and reflect that to me. This should help with the choice and development of your project. |

Lots of Poetry and planned poetry readings for next semester. Strong contribution to the obesity project. "I have to agree this semester has been a blast. I mean taking 24 units and working two jobs has been like WOW. In taking your classes soc 367 and soc 370 I was very happy and enlightened to see what can actually take place in a class. there are many of us that were or maybe still are in the box but your course made me think a little bit more of respecting people and their actions, beliefs, ideas, just like you made it a very safe place on trasform to do so. I think that this course has made me aware that I can speak my mind and others will listen and tell me what they think and why they see things in that way. Dominant discourse influences our lives . . . . We can all be heard and we all have one voice, but look at that voice how it was strong in the Naked Space and how we made others on campus aware of our issues?" Yvette I know you had a lot going on this semester. And I am grateful that you just stepped out and started writing your poetry and sharing it with us all of a sudden. You need to tell me what the stimulus was. We all enjoyed your poetry, and I'm really sorry that the exhibit moved too quickly to include the poetry readings we had planned. Maybe we can manage to set up a reading in the Spring. And, yes, I guess I am a little farther out of the box than most, but we all have answerability, which includes the right to come and go from those boxes. Remember interpassivity. It's important, too. jeanne |

In addition, the course has helped me enjoy communicating online andreduce my anixety level." My Eek will be with you shortly. Have yourself a good one! Nancy Lopez." Message No. 2335. Nancy, I had already put up Marcy's description of your poster work. I'd like for you three to send me the issues you raised so I could include them in the interim report of the exhibit. I'll be glad to hear what you learned, but there's no particular hurry. You had your A at the start of the semester, remember? jeanne |

We need to address our concerns and make people aware of issues. We must speak out and demand answers to problems that are disregarded. "Actions speak louder than words". "Ok, here's an update... I just called Mr. Mark Cartwright (Parking
Administrator) again and found out that he's gone for the day (at
3:30pm)!!!! Unbelievable!!!! I never received a call back this
morning so I decided to leave him another voicemail. Let's see if he
calls me back tomorrow. . . . Secondly, I contacted Steve Frieze, the Executive Director of the
CSUDH Office of Instituional Research, Assessment and Planning, to
get the most current enrollment numbers for Fall 2004. Hopefully,
he'll call me back with that information. If not, I will try to get
the figure from ASI?!?!?!?!?! Anyone else have any suggestions?" Excellent example.Sawsan, of the frustration of doing field work. Congratulations, you two. jeanne Just wanted to remind you that I Celia Piz, worked on the Drunk Driving Project with Jenny Silva, and Alex Pineda. In our project we addressed the dangers in drunk driving, along with statistics on deaths, and accidents. We also included information on how families become victims too. We provided a hands on activity, where people remove pictures of wrecked cars, and underneath uncover a picture of a girl laid out in the pavement who was hurt do to drunk driving. This points out how even if one tries to remove the wreck, what is done can never be undone. There are so many innocent lives that are taken do to drunk driving. We also addressed the laws that come into play when drinking under the influence. In addition, we provided copies of Alcohol free drink recipes, tips on how to approach friends who have been drinking, and tips for children who find themselves in a vehicle with someone who has been drinking. I really enjoyed putting this project together. I hope it helped people become more aware of the dangers in drunk driving. . . . Through my experience in your classes I learned that in order to transform our society, one has to bring people to conscious awareness of issues that bother us in our community, share the harms of these issues, express our ideas and concerns through actions and words. Through your courses we had the opportunity to do this through collaborate learning. Transform_dom made this easier. Thanks for this opportunity it was a great experience." Message No. 2062. I am very pleased that you managed to work together and do such a great job on the project. I am also delighted that we have plans to take this project into the schools to let students play the games and talk about the concept of frozen words and frozen actions that we can't later undo, in both Spanish and English. |

I liked the understanding I thought I saw when we talked about your talking to your son about education. Sharing our learning and our changing identities with our families is an essential part of changing the dominant discourse."Why I came back to school at my age: At first school was not a place I wanted to be in. It took alot for me to come back to school, especially at my age. I didn't have the desire, will, or the energy to come back. All that change when my son was born. I wanted him to have a better live than I. I wanted him to have a great future and not to depend on a weekly check from an employer as I did. I had to be a good parent and role model for him. I had to set an example by teaching him that school was great place to get ahead if one desires" Message No.2046. Let's consider why you need to be a good role model to your son. What's he going to need? Think of the support you didn't have when you started back to school. How can we help change the family discourse to make your child's efforts at school better supported by the family? |

Why doesn't the state take this money and create a rehabilitative prison system that provides education, counseling, therapy and job training to inmates rather than treat them like shit? (Excuse my language.) I know that this will probably never happen and if it does it will be way after my lifetime. I believe that people are capable of changing and unfortunately some will never be able to change their lifestyle or behaviors, but that doesn't mean that we give up on everyone. The prison system is a money maker for our government and just another way of keeping the lower clas in its current stauts, uneducated and without power. message #505: Think about ontological hope and Freire and all of us working to make it happen. "We titled our exhibit BEAUTY. . . We are working on an exhibit, which expresses that we are all beautiful. Most of the research on race, showed how race mostly serves to label people. We realized it was a social construct, which holds no scientific merit. There are too many variances in humans geographically, culturally as well as phenotype. We learned that by fitting people into nice categories has only caused more problems in our society. It has caused many problems and misunderstandings. Many people have different definitions of race. Not many people know the true meaning of this word. As humans we are 99% alike. Yet Anthropologist have not done enough to educate the public on these similarities and rather there is a focus on the differences. We felt that an exhibit on the similarities is the best way to remind us that it’s really about the human race." Message No. 1648. Good project. Look forward to seeing it. "For my Field Project ( moot court class), I passed out flyers to encourage staff and students throughout the campus to come join us at our exihibit. I was pleasantly suprised that many people did not just throw them away. Some were very interested in what I was passing out. I explained to the what the exihibit was about and why they should go. This was a great experience for me." Message No. 2086 Thanks for reminding me, Gina. "Dominant discourse calls our attention to the negative experiences
in society that an immigrant faces in schools, workplace and other
social gatherings. As an immigrant (illegal or not) the minority
will always be looked at differently and judged by the jealous elite
in society who think the immigrant should be limited to what jobs
they should have or what postitions they can hold in the
proffessional world. They don't mind if one of their "own" is at the
top of his game at a big prosperous company, but when the child or
relative of some minority person comes along and takes their spot
right out from under him/her, things get very awkward and it becomes
so evident that those "visible social stigmas" (as per Jeanne's
words, ie: eye/hair color, built, gender, ethnicity) are the only
aspects considered into whether or not he/she is deserving of such
high positions. Not once will they ever consider the fact that it
could have been the person's education and expertise that pushed
them to the top. Most of the time, people fail to see beyond those
visible social stigmas that are presented on the outside. Dominant
discourse gives us a chance to bring up such topics that are rarely
ever brought up and discussed because we have learned to accept
things the way they are. It's more convenient to just let things go
on as they are, but I've realized alot of situations in life can't
be taken lightly. The exhibit gave us a chance to express our
feelings and thoughts on a range of topics we aren't accustomed to
elaborate on as much." Message No.2069. |

I had such a great time going out with my colleague and trying to get the Latino population to vote this presedential election year were truly a major difference was needed immediately. I was extremely proud to see that many peple did care for the propositions and the candidates that were running for president. This project made me more confident. I now know that many things can be achieved and all it takes is courage to speak to make other more aware and truly want to make a difference because at the end these aer issues that affect us all as a whole." you. The most important thing that I have learned is to respect others with different perspectives, especially republicans. Also I thank you for discussing current events in your lectures and online. I am a full time student and work full time. Erin, I'm glad that you learned that there might be better ways of coping than "loathing" the President. "Hello Jeanne, Thanks for getting back to me. The project that I did was on respect. Its was the one with the children on it. What we were trying promote with our project is that if you teach children respect at an early age they will more than likely grow up to be respectable adults. all of the problems in our society stem form a lack of training. Some people are not taught as children the skills that they need to help them the rest of there lives. I learned many things in this course, but the most important thing that I learned is that people need to get involved. Every single day we here and see people complaining abut social issues but the majority of them are not getting involved because they figure they will not be heard. You showed me that are few voices can make a difference, if they are serious about that particular issue. I also learned that you have to get to the core of the problem we need to investigate and identify the underlying issue, them maybe that will help us out. The majority of my messages I sent directly to you but the messages that I posted on transform dom are # 166, 205,672,675,822-824,1306,1857. I hope this helps because I am really concerned. good participation in class; "I appreciate you writing back concerning your thoughts about Scott and his actions. I too find them to be incredibly heinous. When I think about what poor Laci had to suffer at the hands of her killer, it makes me sick to my stomach. If you are interested, visit Courttv.com. Click on the "news" link-you can find transcripts, pieces of evidence, etc. that are related to this case. For instance, I found out that Scott was having an affair with a woman when he was a senior at San Luis Opisbo AND married to Laci. So not only was he having an affair with Amber Frey but he was also messing around in his younger years. If anything he is a cad. He is definitely spoiled and probably thought all of mommy and daddy's money would keep him from being locked behind bars for the rest of his life. Thankfully justice is prevailing in this instance because at least he will never be free to roam the streets and hurt anyone else. This is what Jeanne's been talking about in Women and Poverty---the idea of "white privilege"--Scott and his family thought that, because he is white, good looking, and from the middle class, he would be made invincible to the criminal justice system. At least one white privileged person who comes from money won't be able to harm anyone ever again. Does this send a strong message? Yes it does. It will let other WASPs (White Anglo Saxon Protestants) know that, if they commit a crime, there is a great likelihood that they won't get away with murder. It sets a precedent that we need in society. It's a shame something like this had to happen to a beautiful young woman with so much promise--but by sending him to jail forever or to death, we are sending a message that society is not going to accept this kind of behavior from anyone--including the WASPs. And yes, Darcy, I too believe Scott is a sociopath. Before he was hired to represent Scott, Mark Geragos was quoted on Larry King as calling Scott, if he did indeed commit the crime, a "sociopath" also. so we are definitely not alone in this assumption. It's amusing that his own lawyer feels this way about him. An interesting case--I'm glad we are engaging in it." Message No. 2118. "wanted to email you a reminder of my projects for the exhibit. The first one that I took part in is the "Music" project with Melody and Kasie. It was fun to contribute to that project (and I must give props to Kasie because she did a lot of work pasting and putting the wonderful finishing touches on the poster board---thanks again, Kasie!). It was a wonderful opportunity for me to reflect on what music means to me. Music is a huge part of my life and sometimes we all take those minute things for granted. Contributing to this project allowed me to focus my attention on something I truly love. . . . My second project and the one I worked on extensively alone was the "Manners 101" poster board. I had a lot of fun putting this one together. I got the idea when you were talking about dominant discourse during one of our Women and Poverty seminars. It started getting the wheels turning in my mind that, in order to change society, we must start by changing one person at a time. Many times we don't listen to one another because they have an opinion that runs so contrary to our own beliefs. We automatically tune them out and don't take the time to listen to them. Sometimes we can be so close minded in society and in doing this, we completely miss opportunities to grow and learn how to adapt. Manners are a necessary component towards instituting change in dominant discourse in our society today. If we can't be polite, how do we expect others to listen to us as we voice our opinions? It is pretty difficult. You can get a lot further in life by being sweet and nice rather than nasty and cruel. We are living in the Christmas season and I can think of 2 individuals (The Grinch from How the Grinch Stole Christmas & Ebineezer Scrooge from a Christmas Carol) who were rather unpleasant to be around. No one wanted to listen to them! No one cared what they had to say because they knew it would be negative. Once they changed their tunes, people warmed up to them. it's the same way in society today. If we are nice, treat each other with respect, and show one another courteosy, we have a chance, a real chance, to change the way our society works. It's worth a shot, don't you think? . . . Jeanne, I have truly enjoyed working on the Naked Space exhibit. So rarely are sociology students given the opportunity to take what they have learned in THEORY and applied it to REAL LIFE. Most of the time, we sit in classes and ponder what to do theoretically. In your class, we received hands on experience and I am so thankful for that. Thanks for this unique and amazing opportunity to CHANGE DOMINANT DISCOURSE." Message No. 2081. Stephanie, I'm glad we did the exhibit. I agree that it comes closest to letting you really make the learning your own. On the other hand, I may never get all these learning reports up. jeanne

I have been a little late in joining the group. For one, my computer literacy on a scale of 1-10 is about 1. All this stuff is pretty overwhelming. Secondly, I do come to class and do read all the emails and constantly engage in Dominant Discourse at home but they are always such long conversations that go into the wee hours of the morning and after you talked about not sending essays, well, I just kinda shirked back into my shell. Third, because I am only a resident of this country and all the talk lately has been about the elections I just feel like an outsider because I can't vote but am following the whole process ( I am doing something about that for the next election though-just have to muster up $400. and I will be good to go!) Lastly, although my email is what you see, I am enrolled in your class as Dolores De Amor Vasquez. Anyway, I have gleaned lots of information from your class and want to bring a few of my nieces and nephews to the Gallery to expose them to the wonderful world of "answerability". I'm glad you're getting used to the computer. transform_dom is probably the easiest way. And bringing your nieces and nephews helps bridge from the academy to the community and family; Lori, your project was far and away the favorite of everyone in the exhibit. "My thesis is due at the end of the spring semester. My topic is on
Punk Rockers vs. LA street gangs (Bloods, Crips etc). The argument
is that during the outburst of the creation of Punk Rockers and LA
street Gangs, the mass media labeled the street gangs more harsh than
the punk rockers. Consequently, the street gangs experienced a self-
fullfilling prophecy. Charles Cooley in social problems discusses
how white gangs are not labeled bad as black gangs are and as a
result society and the gang members themselves develop a distorted
perception. If a kid for example is constantly told that he is not a
good child and that he or she is crazy, chances are that the kid will
turn out to be bad and crazy. I am not arguing that the media is all
responsible for how bad the black gangs turned out however I am
saying that our perception of gangs were distorted via mass media!" Message No. 1588 "Shon,
Very interesting. We brought up white privilege in class one day and it's crazy that it exists even in the most violent situations. I guess that's not new information.

"Dear Jeanne, Soc 367 and Soc 370 made me realize that there is nothing wrong with
opening up and speaking up our opinion. I have learned to respect other people's opinion. . . .There were many important topics to cover this semester due to the presidential election. I learned to open up and discuss about the elections with my family and friends. . . . The exhibit was a great experience. I was there both days throughout the day. At the exhibit I helped out with the Parking lot project. I helped out collecting signatures and providing people with information regarding the parking lot issues we have here at school. It was surprising that many people had no idea that there are about one-third parking spaces for the total amount of students enrolled at CSUDH, and that there are less spaces than the number of parking permits sold. I really hopes that this project motivates the students to speak up so we can get something done about the parking at school. . . . . On the first day of the exhibit, I noticed there was a project on 'Elder Abuse.' Since I had information on reporting elder abuse at work, I made copies of 'WISE- Senior Services' pamphlet and provided them for the project during the exhibition. More information on these services and how you can help can be found at http://www.la4seniors.com/ombudsman.htm . . . .
Many people hesitate and don't report adult abuse. Everyone is encouraged to make reports of suspected elder abuse, for more information on reporting here's a good link http://www.canhr.org/abuse/abuse_reporting.htm . I was unable to provide copies of Soc 341, this form is may be used by any person, to report adult abuse. A copy of the form may be accessed at http://www.dss.cahwnet.gov/pdf/SOC341.pdf . . . . This was a whole new and different experience for me. I really enjoyed seeing how we all have different opinions and that we will not always agree on a topic. But we can all voice our opinions and express our thoughts. . . . Happy Holidays! Elena Zamora" Message No.2303.Thank you so much for getting this in. I'm sorry that there were those of you I just couldn't find material for. We set up transform_dom too late in the semester, and my filing system isn't working perfectly.
