Message 8997:

Jeanne, I really agree with your story about the seeing leopards once in a while, for encourangement. I felt just like you two weeksago. it was a lower stomach pain that didn't go away, I was just waiting to go away, I thought it was stress. it was two weeks before finals, and the longer I waited, theworse it got. so finally I had to go the emergency room. it was a severe infection in my stomach. well I am happy that I made it to finals. It was such a great experience having you as a teacher and inspiration in life, I hope you get better soon.

Reply:

I'm sorry you were so sick. I hope my jaguars/leopards were able to prove a solace. It was fun having you too, Rosario.

Message 8903:

Jeanne, I missed wednesday for Moot class 370. Betty told me that you were not feeling well. I hope you feel better. are you going to be in your office this week? please let me to know because i have another box to bring you. I really have fun making them with my husband and daugther, issue 17 on making boxes, not only [does] it help to make boxes, i am also thinking of making cards for christmas for friends and family, to write my own thoughts and feelings for a specific person.

Reply:

Rosario, I am so pleased with the way you have tackled so many new experiences. You can bring your box in later in January. We'll have box sculptures all semester, so no problem with showing them. I'm delighted to see that you are going to make special cards for friends and family. Don't forget to look at the current issue. There is a cute card I put up as a model. I'll bet your daughter and husband would have fun with that. And dont forget to share social justice ideas as you do it.

Message 8902:

this year, 2005 , was the first year I was able to vote. thanks to you I learned what propositions 74, 75, 76, 77, 78 were about. I have never been a political person, but all of us have to be at least to understand our rights. not only did I vote, but I was helping the community that I reside in to understand what the governor was trying to do. I live in a 99% latino city, in which most of us (Latinos) aren't really involved, or understand or are afraid of speak our minds, due to immigration status.

Reply:

Rosario, I am so glad that you had this experience. I hope you will continue to follow the site, so you'll be able to help prepare your community for the June elections. Having a voice and a vote is so important to our self respect, as well as the respect of others for our community.

Message 8901:

sorry, that it took me so long to learn this system, but I finally know how to use it.

issue no. 14, volume 25, week of november 6, 2005

naked space

Sociology 370 Moot court is very different from all the other classes that I have taken at Cal State Dominguez Hills, and other schools such as high school or communitity colleges. Naked space issue 14 made me realize that students in the United States and other countries (such as Mexico) are to sit in [their] chair, [face forward], and listen to the Instructor, and assume that whatever professor says to be correct. afraid to speak our minds about a specific subject or to oppose whatever is said in class. I am not saying all classes are conducted this way, but most of mine are. taking your class has taught me that there are other ways of learning and students' opinions count in some courses.

Reply:

Rosario, I'm glad that you had this experience. This foreshadows what lifetime learning will be like. Once you have your degree you will have more time to take an active part in your own learning and in your community. I believe that your learning to share what you have learned with your community as you go is essential to all of us creating and maintaining a democracy together. Every part played, every vote counts. I'm especially pleased that you have gained some comfort with sharing over the Internet. Don't forget to follow transform_dom and Dear Habermas.

I went to office yesterday for class to submit written learning records, but Betty informed me that you were not feeling well. is it possible to submit my four learning records tonight, or tomorrow.

Reply:

Rosario, you got caught in one of the glitches this semester. Now that we're getting it straightened out, I will submit your A, but I'd like you to get all your messages to me for the learning record.
