Griffin, Michael A.:

Some of the students still complained a couple of weeks before the end that you were too harsh. Of course, some of them needed the discipline and the harshness, especially as I faded quietly away with therapy. But some of them have a point. Susan and Pat and I decided that you and Beau were right that naked space should not authoritatively rule out harshness, but I'd like to make that an issue on social justice for the site. They used the term "intimidation," and I answered them that the real world would have intimidating characters. But that goes back to BGUTI and the question of whether we want the real world dominant discourse to rule our governance and illocutionary discourse. I don't have an answer, but I like the questions. Of course, one of the major contributions that you and Pat and Beau and Kathleen make is substituting as authority in my place because answering me is too intimidating. So, so much for that argument, hmm?
