Original discussion at Talking About the Roman Catholic ChurchOn Monday, May 6, 2002, Tessa continued the discussion:
To:Date: Mon, 6 May 2002 01:06:01 -0700 I have no idea how I found your letter and painting, but here I sit, unable to sleep, again, and I need to thank you for the letter I just read from you on a website I have no idea how I found, as I, too, was so deeply disturbed by the molestation cases AND EVEN MORE SO THE LYING TO COVER SUCH A GRAVE SIN AGAINST INNOCENCE that I painted a painting too, yet while I set out to paint stained glass windows I ended up with confessionals surrounded with crime scene tape and chalk outlines of little boys and girls... I am so angry I cannot speak right now, but it is good to write to you, a complete stranger, who will somehow understand. Please excuse the run-on stream of consciousness sentences, but they are necessary to let the feelings pour out. Where were the sane adults? Why was no one vigilant, why didn't anyone notice our blank stares and lack of affect? Couldn't they see that what was done to us had killed our spirit? At least for a time...I am full of life now, although I no longer believe in much. Again, thank you so much for a letter I was never meant to see. I hope you are well.
TessaOn Friday, May 10, at the risk of being caught at her computer a half hour before leaving for China, jeanne responded:
Dear Tessa:Thank you for writing. Please, please send us your painting. And of course this is meant for you. It's meant for all of us who must face such overpowering issues. Together, our online journal offers us a forum to talk deeply and to help each other heal. While I am gone for the next month, there is not tech to put up the journal. But I promise to catch up early in June. Please come back to share more with us. love and peace, jeanne, as she flies off to China and more peacemaking and painting.
