Alert to Justice Thomas' Interest
in the Outcome of the Presidential Election

We've kind of allowed the issue of the Presidential Election to quiet down a bit. But

I didn't know this, did you?

Did you know that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas' wife is the first cousin of president-elect George W. Bush? Well it's true!! And as we all know, Clarence Thomas was instrumental in deciding the vote to halt the Florida recount against Al Gore.

So, 'now we know the rest of the story'............

No, Delaine, I didn't know that. But I went out to check it on the Internet and found the following story: Job of Clarence Thomas's Wife Raises Conflict-of-Interest Questions by Christopher Marquis, Breaking News and Views for the Progressive Community.

In fact, at least Justice Thomas's wife's interest in the election is documented here. I didn't attempt to check the relationship. Note, however, that this is a Progressive News Report. The left would be likely to dig up such information, whereas the Right would probably prefer to keep it out of news reports.

Is it really a conflict of interest? Well, of course, it is. But is it legally significant? that's going to depend on which side is arguing it, isn't it? But here is an e-mail which checks out, at least this far. You may wish to check it further. jeanne
