On Sunday, November 2, 2003, Denice Roberts sent in the following rough draft:
Statistical Research

Compile list of alumni for Alumni Research Project. Sociology majors preferred but exclusion of other majors not desired goal.

Methodology

Remembered my former math instructor, Yontha Ath(yath@csudh.edu) was a CSUDH alumnus. Also remembered that the 2002-2003 CSUDH University Catalog included a section on the faculty(pages 389-396). A careful perusal confirmed a total of 20 were CSUDH alumni. An alphabetical list was compiled and a search of the CSUDH website initiated. The CSUDH Campus Directory link offers a search by name, department, extension or e-mail address. Using the compiled list of names, a search was made by name. Using this method, information was acquired for all but four of the original 20 names. The information in the CSUDH Catalog included the faculty's formal title. Using this information, a second search (by department) provided the missing information for three of the four names. Recognizing that close to 98% of the e-mail addresses compiled consisted of the first letter of the subject's first name followed by the last name @csudh.edu, a search for the final missing name was initiated using this same method. All names were accounted for.

Conclusion

None of the faculty who are former CSUDH students as indicated by the 2002-2003 CSUDH are Sociology majors. They are however alumni and should a future study or an expansion of the present one occur, this data will prove useful. The hard copy of the compiled study will be presented in class as requested.
