"Spectacular or sensational elements do not interest me," wrote painter NICOLAI CIKOVSKY (1894-1984), "preferring as I do intimate subjects that I see and have contact with in everyday life -- fishing houses, gardens, ponds, city squares, parks and streets."* Cikovsky may have made this lively sketch of chickens while summering with his family in South Fork, Long Island."
